About Me
Coaching Experience
No matter what I’ve done in my life, I’ve had a focus on supporting people in unlocking what they need to unlock in order to achieve their goals. On the playground as a kid, I’d be showing kids how they can swing higher or run faster if they wanted to.
As a teen, academics were passive and I was always trying to supported folks to achieve their goals by. I tutored math and English before joining the Science One Program at UBC in 1999. In each semester I hosted all-class meetings to bring us students together around projects or class goals, and few things felt as good in uni as seeing everyone getting what they wanted.
Professionally, as a manager and leader, I built teams that focused on a mix of creativity and process to do much more with less – and then practice rest.
In 2014 I became a parent and, over the course of a decade, I have evolved from an authoritative leader to a partner in parenting. It’s the most fun I have ever had in my life
Life Story
For all of my life, I’ve been an autistic, gender-diverse person with ADHD. Each of these qualities showed up for me as early as 5 years old, and I had to find my way in the world even though I didn’t work like the world seemed to.
The main way through was masking. I was, and am, good at fitting in when I know the scripts, but it hurts me a little every time I do it. I’ve since discovered I need to do things my own way, but also achieve goals in a neurotypical world that’s frequently not tolerant of neurodivergent, gender-diverse folks.
When I was a teen, I imagined being in non-monogamous and queer relationships. Different adventures with different folks, different ways of seeing the world through sharing, and potentially wild and raucous sexual escapades. I thought it was for others, not a weirdo pretender like me. I didn’t embrace non-normative relationship models until I was 40, but since realizing all of the social, emotional, practical, and sexual aspects of my relationships are negotiable between just me and each other person, life has been incredible. Another unmasking.
I long to support folks in their own journeys of becoming.
